Adia McClellan Winfrey, known to many as Dr. Dia, is the mother of 4, a Doctor of Clinical Psychology, entrepreneur, author and founder of H.Y.P.E. (Healing Young People thru Empowerment), a groundbreaking mental health curriculum that uses Hip Hop to help young people work through their emotional and mental health challenges.
Her 9 year career has involved serving youth and families through emotional wellness-based programming. Dr. Dia's innovations within the field of psychology have also contributed to improved interventions for youth involved in juvenile corrections globally. This, combined with her more than 20 years of national and local advocacy and leadership efforts, has endowed her with unique expertise, insight and skills that would benefit the Congressional 3rd District and beyond. To date, her company, Elevating Us, has served more than 4,000 youth, and 2,000 educators and mental health professionals globally.
Dr. Dia is a public servant at heart who is pursuing this opportunity to lead because of her deep concern about the future of our state and our country.
